The Boy In The Striped Pajamas

We saw this movie over Christmas break in Little Rock and the marquee at the movie theater just said "Boy PJs". We thought it was really funny. The movie, however, wasn't funny at all. It's a hard one to watch, but it's really well-made and a really good story. The Boy In The Striped Pajamas takes place in WWII Nazi Germany. It's about a boy whose father is a German officer who gets promoted as head of one of the concentration camps. He moves his family to a house near the camp where his son, after sneaking away to "explore" the woods, meets a little Jewish boy who is on the other side of the fence in the concentration camp. The movie does a good job of showing the harsh reality of the holocaust through the eyes of an eight year old boy. This is definitely a powerful movie, but not an easy one to watch. However, we recommend watching it! We give it a 5 out of 5 stars. Go see it.

Slumdog Millionaire

If you get the chance to see it in theaters, do! It's so good. We don't go to the movie theater a lot together, but this one is more than worth the 8 dollars. It's about an 18 year old boy who grew up in the slums of India and walks you through his life up until he makes it onto the show Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Personally, I (Rebekah) thought this plot sounded really hokey and strange, but I was proven wrong. We both loved the camera shots, cinematography and MUSIC (MIA) in the movie. It has an incredible story line and some cool symbolism. The main character in the movie is one of the nicest, just sincerely good people we've ever... not met. We loved him. Bottom line- you should definitely see this movie. 5 out of 5 stars for sure.
